Grand Knight Notes

2013 - 2014

June 18, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

Reminder, we have our last council meeting of this fraternal year tomorrow night, June 19th, at 7:30 at the Parrish Center. Unfortunately, neither I nor DGK Bob Petza can be there tomorrow evening, so our Worthy Chancellor Steve Furth will be presiding for both the business/social meeting and the planning meeting. Please plan to attend and support brother Steve in leading his first council meetings.

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen
Grand Knight 2013-2014

June 12, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

Reminder, this weekend we will be distributing pens for Fathers' Day after all the masses. Worthy PGK Milt asks if all Knights would help out by going to the rear of the church near the end of mass, the pens will be on the floor (in a plastic bag) behind the last pew - give them to all males (don't worry about whether or not they are fathers).

Happy Fathers' Day!

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen

June 1, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

This week we have our Council Meeting on Thursday at 7:30 PM in the Parish Center, followed by poker. We will be electing officers for the upcoming fraternal year, so please plan to attend if you can.

Also, this Friday, June 6th, is First Friday Adoration (see the email Worthy PGK Tom Lauth sent this afternoon).

Finally, as many of you heard during the masses this weekend, the Furth family suffered a house fire early Saturday morning. Thankfully no one was injured; however, there was significant damage to their home and their belongings (clothing, furnishings, etc.). Please keep Brother Steve, his wife Kathy and their family in your prayers...I know many in our parish and in the council have already reached out to offer Steve and Kathy any assistance or support they may need now and over the weeks and months ahead.

Fraternally,

Worthy Brother Knights,

Thanks to all who helped make the Mothers Day Brunch a big success...special thanks to PGK Alan Andrysiak for his superb leadership/coordination (and of course to PGK Tom Lauth for keeping us "spirited" with "Mom"osas). I hope all of our beloved moms had a wonderful Mothers Day.

Reminder, we have our Council Meeting followed by the May Planning Meeting this Thursday at 7:30 PM at the Parish Center. Please try to make it if you can.

Have a great week!

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen

May 7, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

Don't forget Mothers Day this Sunday, and please plan to join us for our annual Mothers Day Brunch this Sunday morning in the Parish Center. PGK Alan Andrysiak says he can use lots of help with cooking, starting at 7:30 am and will also need help for second shift from mid-morning (~10 am) until closing at noon.

Also, PGK Tom Lauth ask me to pass along the following regarding Daily Rosary:

As we begin this "Mary" month of May, we are looking for additional people to say the Rosary once a month in your own home, or wherever you may choose. See attached. If you're interested, please email me. If you are already reciting a Rosary one day a month (maybe your birthday!), ask a friend or relative, or add another day yourself. This was initiated by the Knights, (see list on website http://www.kofc12180.org/pb/wp_dd87529a/wp_dd87529a.html) and we would like to expand it even more in the spirit of the new evangelization.

Please pray for the following intentions:
  • The Intentions of the Holy Father
  • Vocations
  • The Unborn
  • Our priests and chaplains
  • Our troops, especially those in harm’s way
  • Our brother Knights, especially those sick and deceased
  • Our fellow parishioners, especially those sick and deceased
  • World Peace
  • Everyone’s special intentions
  • Your own special intentions

Each May and October, which are Mary's months, we will update you on where we are and ask for new members. This is something we hope you continue throughout your life.

We welcome any of your family and friends in joining this prayerful activity. Forward this and ask those interested to contact me at tomlauth@comcast.net

Finally, many thanks to Deputy GK Bob Petza for filling in for me at last Thursday's Council Meeting.

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen

Worthy Brother Knights,

Congratulations to our newest council member, Worthy Brother Gordon Hasenei, Colonel, U.S. Army (retired), who made his First Degree last Thursday. Welcome Gordon! Welcome to our Order and to our Council…we're very honored and blessed to count you among our fellow Brother Knights. Many thanks to our Worthy DW Dave Knitowski, Worthy Chaplain Father Victor, Worthy PGKs Tom Lauth, Milt McKenna, and Skip Wenk, for their participation in this very special First Degree ceremony.

We have two events on the schedule this week:
  • Council Meeting, Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 at the Parish Center. Poker to follow if there's interest.
  • First Friday Adoration, Friday, May 2 at the church.

Please remember your scheduled adoration hour.

April 1, 2014

Worth Brother Knights,

Please join me in welcoming our council's newest 1st Degree Knights, Worthy Brothers Jerrycore Anyanwu and Andrew Furth. Both achieved the first step toward full Knighthood this past Wednesday evening at an exemplification ceremony hosted by Archbishop Keough Council in Odenton. Welcome Jerrycore and Andrew...and congratulations!

This Thursday evening at 7:30 PM we have our Council meeting at the Parish Center. Following the meeting we'll be doing a walk through of the First Degree ceremony script in preparation of our home-bound applicant.

This Friday we have First Friday Adoration (followed by Benediction and Stations of the Cross). Note, we're still looking for a council member to take over the 12:30 to 1:30 PM adoration time slot. Please let me or Tom Lauth know if you can take that on.

This Friday we'll also be selling Pizza and Crab Cakes starting at 4:30 PM. Please plan to help out if you can.

Have a great week....

March 26, 2014

Worth Brother Knights,

We need a Knight to volunteer to permanently fill the 12:30 - 1:30 PM time slot for First Friday Adoration at St. Lawrence Martyr Parish. As most of you know, we need to have at least one member of our council present during each hour of adoration.

Please reply to this email or contact Worthy PGK Tom Lauth if you can commit to being present for this hour of adoration on the first Friday of each month. Thanks!

Fraternally,

March 3, 2014

Worth Brother Knights,

As we begin the season of Lent we also have a very busy week of Council activities:

On Thursday, March 6th at 7:30 PM, in leu of our regular council meeting we will be hosting a 2nd Degree Exemplification ceremony at the Parish Center.

On Friday, March 7th, we have First Friday Adoration starting after 9:00 am Mass, concluding at 6:30 PM, followed by Benediction and Stations of the Cross. Please see Tom Lauth's email sent yesterday afternoon containing the First Friday schedule and Directory attachments.

Also on Friday, March 7th, we will be selling Pizza and Crab Cakes in the Parrish Center...we begin set up and cooking at 4:30 PM...please plan to lend a hand with cooking or serving...we'll take any help we can get. We'll be selling Pizza and Crab Cakes every Friday during Lent prior to (but not including) Good Friday.

On Saturday, March 8th we host the Saturday Evening Family Social and all morning Sunday, March 9th, we we will host Donut Sunday, both in the Parish Center after the Masses. Please plan to help out if you can.

Here's an update from Worthy PGK Tom Laugh regarding the upcoming Maryland March for Life in Annapolis on Monday, March 10: A slight change in transportation arrangements...we will NOT be meeting in the church parking lot, but rather we will pick up those going at their homes. Please contact Tom Lauth at tomlauth@comcast.net or 410-551-8166 if you want to add your name to those going.

Whew! Like I said, a very busy first week of Lent....

February 23, 2014

Worth Brother Knights,

First, I'd like to pass along the following from Worthy PGK Tom Laugh regarding the upcoming March for Life:

We are scheduled to go to the March for Life in Annapolis on Monday, March 10. Mass is at 5:15pm at St. Mary's, followed by the march to the State House at 6:30, after which there will be speeches. We will adjourn to the Irish pub sometime after 8pm. If you are interested, you may carpool from St. Lawrence or meet us there. Those carpooling need to be at the St. Lawrence parking lot NLT 4pm. Please contact Tom Lauth with any questions or to confirm your attendance.

Second, we are making plans for our annual St. Patricks Day dinner at the Parish Center on March 15, featuring Maggie's famous corned beef. If you plan to attend, please sign up on the our council website or reply to this email, or both. We need to get a count of how many will attend and what dish they plan to bring. Here's a link to the website:
http://www.kofc12180.org/pb/wp_dd87529a/wp_dd87529a.html#stpat_potluck

Finally, remember we have Prayers for The Unborn/Rosary this Thursday, February 27 at 7:00 PM.

Have a blessed week.

January 20, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

We have three important events scheduled this week events. The March for Life on Wednesday, our Council Meeting/Social/Planning meeting on Thursday, and providing the meal for Life Teen on Sunday. Please plan to participate/attend any and all that you can. Here are additional details:
  • The March for Life is Wednesday, January 22. Mass for the Unborn will be celebrated by Fr. Victor at 9am at St. Lawrence. After Mass, we plan to carpool to the Odenton MARC train station to catch the 10:47am train to Union Station in DC. Round trip for seniors is $5; $10 for others. At Union Station, we will eat lunch at Pizzeria Uno or another restaurant. The march is scheduled to begin between 1-2pm near 7th and Constitution Avenues. Trains back to Odenton leave Union Station at 3:23/4:10/4:25/4:40/5:10. POC is Worthy PGK Tom Lauth (tomlauth@comcast.net, 410-551-8166).
  • Our Council Meeting and Social is Thursday, Jan 23 at 7:30 PM, followed by our January Planning meeting. Because of our Christmas Potluck and the weather cancellation earlier this month, this is our first Council Meeting since early December and our first Planning meeting since November--so we have a lot of work to do and a lot to discuss. Fortunately, because of the postponement from last week to this, our first Council Meeting of February is next Thursday, so we can pick up anything we don't get to this Thursday.
  • We will be providing the meal for the Life Teen Life Night this Sunday, Jan 26. The POC is Worthy Brother Tom Shepeta. We can discuss details and pass around a sign-up sheet at Thursday's Council meeting.

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen
Grand Knight 2013-2014

January 8, 2014

Worthy Brother Knights,

I hope everyone is staying warm during this very cold weather...brrrrr.

This weekend we have Saturday Evening Social and Donut Sunday. So far we don't have many signed up to help out (likely because of last week's Council Meeting cancelation). If you can help out, please plan to do so. You can sign up on our webpage, reply to this email, or just show up. The POCs for Saturday evening Social are Jeff Faust and Daryl Bryan. The POC for Donut Sunday is Tom Lauth. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Remember to plan to participate in the March for Life on January 22nd. Our next Council meeting is Thursday, January 23rd.

December 31, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

I hope everyone had a blessed and happy Christmas celebration with family and friends.

Two important activities this week:
  1. our first Council Meeting of 2014 on Thursday, January 2 at 7:30 p.m. (followed by poker for those interested in playing) and
  2. Our first First Friday of 2014 on Friday, January 3 (see the email Tom Lauth sent Sunday afternoon for the schedule and directory.).

Please remember to keep Deacon John and our Worthy DD Terrance in your prayers as they both continue their recovery from surgery.

I look forward to a rich schedule of Council activities embracing Unity, Fraternity, and Charity in the Year of Our Lord 2014…Happy New Year!

Fraternally,

Paul Laugesen

December 18, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

No official activities this week; however, please remember to keep Deacon John in your prayers as he continues his recovery from last Friday's surgery (and thank you Milt for keeping us all well informed of Deacon John's status).

If anyone wants to help set up Christmas Eve Luminaries, we will meet at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the church parking lot. It should take about an hour. Please bring a lighter. Those who plan on coming should email Tom at tomlauth@comcast.net no later than Monday night so he can advise of any weather cancellation. Also, if anyone is attending Midnight Mass and can help clean up afterwards, just plan on meeting Tom then.

Speaking of prayers, our only other activity next week is Prayers for the Unborn/Rosary at 7:00 pm on December 26 in the Church.

Many, many thanks again to Pat and Mary Jo Hogan for hosting our annual Council Pot Luck Christmas Party...it was a wonderful, warm, holiday spirit-filled celebration of fraternity and unity among brother Knights and wives as we all prepare our hearts to observe the Feast of the Incarnation of our Lord.

Finally, Cathy and I wish everyone a very blessed, happy and Merry Christmas!

Brothers,

I hope everyone had a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. Please remember to keep keep in your prayers Deacon John (open heart surgery on Friday), our Worthy DD Terrance Holmes, Richard Herman (passed away this past weekend) and the Rigby family (Richard Herman's family).

This weekend is very busy with our annual Antietam Luminary set up, bookmark handouts after the Saturday PM and Sunday morning masses, Saturday Evening Parish Family Social, and Donut Sunday. We'll need help from any members available for each of these activities...you can sign up at Thursday's council meeting, online on our council website (http://www.kofc12180.org), or just show up and pitch in.

November 19, 2013

Brothers,

Just a quick reminder of our Council and Planning Meetings this Thursday, 21 Nov, starting at 7:30 pm. Also, this Saturday's 5:00 pm Mass is our monthly Mass for the Unborn.

Finally, please remember to keep in your prayers our Worthy District Deputy Terrance Holmes as he continues to recover. Terrance asked me to pass along his heartfelt appreciation for the selfless generosity of our council members in contributing to a monetary gift to help defray the financial burdens aggravated by his combined health and employment situation. At our last meeting the council voted to contribute $100 from our charity fund and council members individually contributed an additional $500. I was privileged to deliver this gift to Terrance on behalf of the council and wish him a speedy recovery.

November 3, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

Congratulations to Brother Tom Shepeta, our council's newest 3rd Degree Knight. Tom joined the ranks of full Knighthood on Saturday afternoon at an exemplification ceremony hosted by District 14. Many thanks to Brothers Milt McKenna and Rick Bippus for accompanying Tom to the degree and to Skip Wenk for making all the advance administrative arrangements.

Please remember to keep our Worthy District Deputy Terrance Holmes in your prayers as he continues to recover from his recent hospitalization and surgeries. We're hoping for your full and speedy recovery, Brother Terrance.

We have another busy week coming up...here's a reminder of our scheduled council activities:

Tomorrow (Monday) evening, Nov. 4 at 7:00 PM, we have our annual Memorial Mass for Deceased Knights...we're hoping a good number of Knights from our council will attend to help welcome the invited widows/families/parishioners and to join them in praying for the repose of the souls of our deceased Brothers. Please plan to join in celebrating this very special mass.

On Thursday (Nov 7) at 7:30 PM we have our council meeting followed by poker.

This weekend we have Christmas Card sales (before and after all Saturday and Sunday masses), Saturday Evening Parish Family Social, and Donut Sunday. Any volunteers available to help out with these activities will be appreciated...you can sign up at Thursday's council meeting, online on our council website (http://www.kofc12180.org/pb/wp_dd87529a/wp_dd87529a.html), or just show up and lend a hand.

Finally, I was made aware that many council members have not been receiving these weekly updates...special thanks to Brother Steve Furth for helping diagnose and fix this problem with an updated/complete email address list. Apologies to those who have not been receiving the info emails. If you'd rather not receive them, please "reply" to this email and request to have your address removed from the email address list.

October 15, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

Thanks to all who helped with Christmas Card Sales, Saturday Evening Parish Family Social and Donut Sunday...it was a very busy Columbus Day weekend. Also, many thanks to Skip, John M. and Milt for doing the final accounting from our Raffle Ticket sales and turning in the tickets and money at the Columbus Day Ball...we once again did very well selling tickets and raising money to fund the good works of our council (we'll pass along the totals at Thursday's Council Meeting).

We have another busy week coming up, including our Council/Planning Meeting on Thursday, Oct 17 and Tootsie Roll distribution at the church before and after all masses this Saturday and Sunday, Oct 19 and 20. We also have Mass for the Unborn at 11:30 am, Sunday, Oct 20.

October 6, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

Thanks to all who helped with Tootsie Roll distribution at Safeway this Saturday and Sunday, and a special thanks to our Tootsie Roll coordinator, Brother Dennis Bailey, for getting everything organized and getting all the volunteers mobilized. Despite the unseasonably hot weather, things went very well and according to Dennis we gave out a lot of Tootsie Rolls and collected a lot of money donations for persons with intellectual disabilities. It was wonderful having several Life Teen youths and members of the Trinitarian Third Order join us in this important fundraising effort...their help made a big difference.

We have another busy weekend coming up with Christmas Card sales (before and after all Saturday and Sunday masses), Saturday Evening Parish Family Social, the Columbus Day Ball, and Donut Sunday. Whew! Needless to say, we're counting on the generous volunteering spirit of all who can lend a hand. If you weren't able to attend last week's council meeting, you can still sign up to help using the electronic sign up sheets on our council website (thanks to Brother Steve Furth) or just show up to help out before or after any of the masses.

Here's a summary of our council activities this coming weekend:
  • Christmas Card Sales, all masses Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13
  • Saturday Evening Parish Family Social, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, October 12
  • Donut Sunday, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, October 13

September 29, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

First, a big thanks to all who helped this weekend with car raffle tickets sales at Jessup Day and at the weekend masses. The good news is we sold a lot of tickets...the bad news is we sold out of tickets after the 10:00 mass Sunday, so we could have sold more. We'll work something out to ensure we avail tickets to those parishioners disappointed by our ticket sellout. I've already taken orders for 70 tickets from 10:00 mass attendees we had to turn away.

This Thursday (Oct 3rd) we have our council meeting (followed by poker if there's sufficient interest in playing). Please note: our Worthy Treasurer John Meinhardt will not be present at Thursday's meeting, so if any checks need to be drafted, contact John directly ASAP. We also have First Friday Adoration and Tootsie Roll Distribution on Saturday and Sunday (Oct 5th and 6th) at Safeway.

This Week's Schedule of Events:
  • Council Meeting/Poker, 7:30 pm, Thursday, Oct 3
  • First Friday Adoration, 9:00 am - 6:30 pm, Friday, Oct 4
  • Tootsie Roll Distro, Saturday and Sunday, Oct 5 & 6

September 22, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

First, a change of plans regarding Jessup Day. For those unable to attend last week's council meeting, we discussed options and then voted NOT to sell food and drinks at Jessup Day on Saturday (Sept 28) as we had previously planned. The reason for this change of plans is our discovery late last week of the requirement for an outdoor food service license from the county health department, the cost of which (including a late application fee) would well exceed any expected proceeds from the food sales. In addition to the cost, it would also be difficult to get the license application submitted and approved in time. We will be doing some fact finding regarding the possibility of Jessup Day food sales next year...more on that later.

Meanwhile, WE WILL STILL SELL CAR RAFFLE TICKETS Saturday at Jessup Day...please plan to help out with raffle ticket sales and participate in this opportunity to represent the Knights of Columbus and St. Lawrence Martyr Parrish in our local community.

September 16, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

Please remember we have our council social and planning meeting this Thursday, September 19.

We have a lot to discuss/plan:

Whew, busy times... obviously we'll need numerous volunteers/participants for each of these important activities. If you can't make it to Thursday's council meeting, please volunteer to help out using the online sign up sheets on our council website, or contact the POC(s).

One important addition....

2nd Degree exemplification Tuesday, Sept 17 at 7:00 at Patuxent. We will be carpooling from our church parking lot - leaving at 6:30. Brother Tom Shepeta will be taking the degree. (Thank you Milt for the reminder.)

September 3, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

One important addition to this week's activities (described below)...we also have Saturday Evening Social this Saturday, September 7th and we likewise need volunteers to help with that. September 2, 2013

Worthy Brother Knights,

We have several activities this week starting with our council business meeting/poker on Thursday, September 5th. (Thanks in advance to Worthy DGK Bob Petza for presiding at the meeting on my behalf as I'll be in Williamsburg with my beautiful bride celebrating our wedding anniversary.)

On Friday, September 6th, we have First Friday Adoration...please see Tom Lauth's email reminder (sent yesterday) and ensure you are available for your scheduled hour (or arrange a substitute/inform Tom).

We have donut Sunday on September 8th and we need volunteers (so far we only have one volunteer signed up to help). Please send Tom Lauth an email (tomlauth@comcast.net) or sign up at this Thursday's council meeting if you can help out. The sign up sheet is also accessible on our council web page.

Next week, on Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 in the Parish Center, our council will be sponsoring the Living Rosary to commemorate the 12th Anniversary of "9/11"...bring your family and friends and encourage them to participate with you in this very moving ceremony. Local law enforcement, fire and emergency personnel will also be honored as the "Unsung Heroes in Our Midst". We'd like to have as many Knights as possible be there to support this event.

There's a lot more coming up this month (Jessup Day, raffle ticket sales, Saturday Evening Parish Social, etc.) so check the calendar on the council website and stay tuned for email reminders.

Happy Labor Day!

Please remember this Thursday we have Prayers for the Unborn at 7:00 PM at the church...hope to see you there....

Worthy Brother Knights,

Many thanks to all for making our Installation Ceremony/Dinner a big success, and CONGRATS to our newly installed officers. Special thanks to our Worthy Chaplains, Fathers Victor and Binoy, for their continued participation and amazing support to our council. Also, many thanks to Worthy District Deputy Dave Knitowsky and stand-in Worthy DD Mark Mangus for presiding, and to Worthy DD Terrance Holmes for arranging our stand-in DD (get well soon Terrance...you're in our prayers).

Remember we have the Soccer Shoot-Out this Saturday morning at Provinces Park from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Many thanks to Worthy PGK Mike Jump for once again organizing this important opportunity to support area youth, sell raffle tickets and, of course, evangelize.

Speaking of raffle tickets, Worthy PGK/Program Coordinator Milt McKenna has begun ticket distribution...please get your tickets sold (or buy them yourself) and get the proceeds back to Milt as soon as possible. This has been our most productive council fundraiser and we're looking to exceed last year's record setting sales. Milt assures me every one of our tickets is a winner (our council "wins" about 55 cents per ticket sold).

See you all soon...have a blessed week!

Brother Knights,

A busy week coming up:
  • Council Meeting (planning/social) on Thursday, 15 August at 7:30 p.m. We'll keep the business meeting as brief as possible to make time to walk/talk through the Installation Ceremony with DW Dave.
  • Installation Ceremony after 6:30 Mass (at approx 7:30) on Saturday, 17 August.
  • Baptism Rosary presentation on Sunday, 18 August (if there's a baptism scheduled?).

Please keep our DD Terrance in your prayers as he's scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday, 14 August.

Look forward to seeing everyone this week....

July 21, 2013

Brother Knights,

Two important activities this week:

Wednesday, 24 July - Program Workshop at Sacred Heart Council No. 2577. This is an opportunity to learn from Maryland State Council officials about the wonderful K of C programs in the categories of membership, prolife, church, community, council, family and youth activities. Our program directors for each of these programs are asked to attend; our new members are highly encouraged to attend as this is a great opportunity to learn about the richness of our Order. We will meet at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the parking lot of St. Lawrence Martyr Church and ride to the workshop together. Please let me know if you need to go separately--I can send you directions to Sacred Heart Council.

Thursday, 25 July - Prayers for the Unborn/Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Martyr Church. Please join us for this opportunity to pray for the unborn and to share with your brother Knights in asking for the intersession of the Blessed Mother on their behalf. This is a wonderful opportunity to grow in our faith together as members of the Council through the powerful devotional of the Holy Rosary--all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Hope to see you all on Wednesday and Thursday...have a blessed week!

July 7, 2013

Brothers,

Our only council activity this week is the Silver Rose Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Wednesday in the church. It's truly an honor for us as a council to sponsor this special program at St Lawrence Martyr and we'd like as many Knights as possible to attend with their families. Council members are asked to wear business attire (coat and tie). Please contact Mike Jump, our POC for this activity, if you have any questions. Mike and I look forward to seeing you there.

June 30, 2013

Brothers,

Please join us if you possibly can at our business meeting this week (it will be entertaining to watch the new Grand Knight fumble around with the gavel, so expect standing room only). REMINDER: this week's meeting is TUESDAY, July 2, because of the Independence Day holiday. Poker will follow the meeting for those interested in playing (or just watching/sharing in the fellowship).

I just returned from Grand Knights' College, so I have a lot of info to pass along about the upcoming fraternal year... I'll hit some of the high points at Tuesday's meeting and will follow up with specific details in subsequent emails and at our next planning meeting.

Before I go any further, I want to congratulate Mike Jump on a very successful year as Grand Knight and join you all in thanking him for his faithful service to our council. Mike is an inspiring role model for all of us...a Catholic man who genuinely teaches the Gospel (along with our Order's principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism) through his kind and humble, yet strong and assertive, example... he's a true servant leader. It is very humbling to follow Mike as GK -- leaders like him can't really be replaced -- but I will do my best to help Fr. Harding Council stay on the excellent course he's set for us over the past year.

This Friday, July 5th is First Friday Adoration. If you have volunteered for specific adoration hours, please remember to be there for your scheduled times (or arrange for a Knight to substitute for you and inform Tom Laugh). All others are encouraged to drop by any time during the day to spend a few moments in the Lord's presence.

Please remember to mark your calendar for July 10th when our council will be sponsoring the Silver Rose prayer service at St. Lawrence in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. This beautiful service, reaffirming our commitment to the Sanctity of Human Life, will be at 7:00 PM in St. Lawrence Church. The entire parish is invited and I hope to see as many of you there as can make it.

I look forward to seeing everyone this Tuesday....
